The story unfolds
on two separate levels that are linked to one another.
Black and white drawings tell the story about the actual project,
which took place in 2001/02 at the Slade School of Fine Arts in London.
It includes significant details and gestures that characterise the
project. Occasionally, details of conversations or seminars are included.
The plot of the comic series remains quite faithful to what actually
happened; the figures are quite close to the actual participants.
The second level is situated on the Starship Voyager, the newer
version of the Starship Enterprise. These images, done in watercolour,
are based on screenshots from a classic first-person-shooter computer
game, (Star Trek Voyager, Elite Force One by RAVEN/ASPYR, 2000). The
narrative, situated in the future, appears to be to be the real origin
of the project taking place down on Planet Earth at the Slade. The
future on the Voyager is based in a society dominated by culture,
where the few last remaining businessmen struggle to survive. In one
last, desperate attempt, they capture the Starship Voyager, and activate
operators back in time in the year 2002 on Planet Earth, in order
to initiate an experiment...
A business person winds up implanted in an art academy. The experiment
is set up in order to gather data. The data should help to construct
a suit, a hazard suit that makes the business people invisible, or
alters the way other people interpret their actions. As the main operator
in this experiment, an artist named Schrat has been chosen to set
up and to push the project.
None of the people involved on Earth have the faintest idea that they
are objects of surveillance and observation, nor do they know that
they are being manipulated. So the story unfolds, but a great deal
of problems occur, including a reverse breakthrough of reality from
2002 into the computer game in the future...
